My first Hot Pot Experience

For my good friend Mia’s birthday, I got to go to the Dollar Shop in NYC and try hot pot for the first time. Before entering the restaurant, I had no idea what hot pot even was Thus, I was so surprised to see a little electrical stove in front of me when I sat down at our table. The whole experience of choosing my broth, cooking my own vegetables, curating my own dipping sauce, and boiling my own noodles and tofu made for such a delightful experience. Our table was filled with so many beautiful colors and food and it made me so happy to see everyone so engaged in the food that they were eating. I love cooking my own food, and being able to do this with friends was so much fun. I also really loved when The Dollar Shop gave us free ice cream in cones at the end of our meal. As a vegetarian, I was a little nervous about trying hot pot, but I really loved my version with the assortment of vegetables, tofu, and noodles.
